Research group leader

Georgia Chalvatzaki

Georgia is a Full Professor of Interactive Robot Perception and Learning (PEARL) and the DFG Emmy Noether research leader of the iROSA group at TU Darmstadt, Germany. She was accepted into the renowned Emmy Noether Programme (ENP) of the German Research Foundation (DFG) in 2021.

Ph.D. students

Snehal Jauhri

Snehal is a PhD researcher at the PEARL/iROSA group at TU Darmstadt (since June 2021). His research focuses on machine learning & computer vision for robotic perception and mobile manipulation, supervised by Dr. Georgia Chalvatzaki and in collaboration with Dr. Jan Peters.
Before starting his PhD., Snehal completed his M.Sc. from the Delft University of Technology, specializing in robot learning, controls, and embedded systems. For his master’s thesis, he worked with Dr. Jens Kober and Dr. Carlos Celemin on teaching robots through interactive imitation learning.

Ali Younes

Ali is a PhD researcher at the PEARL/iROSA group at TU Darmstadt since September 2021. Ali is working on Robot learning for long-horizon manipulation tasks under the supervision of Dr. Georgia Chalvatzaki. His research interests include reinforcement learning, self-supervised learning, skill learning.
Before starting his PhD, Ali completed his master’s degree in Mechatronics and Robotics at Bauman Moscow State Technical University (Russia) in 2020. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics Engineering at Tishreen University (Syria) – 2017.

Rickmer Krohn

Rickmer Krohn joined the PEARL group at TU Darmstadt as a PhD researcher in August 2023. He is working on multi-sensorial reinforcement learning and explainable AI under the supervision of Prof. Georgia Chalvatzaki and Prof. Carlo D’Eramo.
Rickmer holds master’s degrees in Computational Engineering and Autonomous Systems from the Technical University of Darmstadt, specializing in robotics and artificial intelligence. Previously, Rickmer completed his B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering.

Sohan Rudra

Sohan Rudra is a PhD researcher at the PEARL group in TU Darmstadt. He has been working under the supervision of Prof. Georgia Chalvatzaki in the domain of multi-task planning and understanding with guarantees.
Sohan has also spent two years working as a researcher at Google Research, India in the domain of robot object-goal navigation. He holds M.Sc & B.Sc degrees in Mathematics and Computing from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur.

Jiayun Li

Jiayun Li joined the PEARL group as a PhD student at TU Darmstadt in October 2023. Prof. Georgia Chalvatzaki supervises his research, which primarily focuses on learning for control and human-robot interaction.
Before embarking on his PhD, Jiayun attained his master’s degree in Computational Engineering Science from TU Berlin. His specialization revolved around statistical machine learning and control. During his master’s thesis, he delved into approaches for learning robot dynamics models, under the supervision of Prof. Marc Toussaint.
